About the event

Walk Details:

Join us for an unhurried walking, plant connecting, and ceremonial experience with Lesley Gilbert of Sacred Spaces. We will meet at the Spruce Meadows Open Space Trailhead, move for 2.5 miles on a "Prairie Plant Walk", hike up Spruce Mountain, rest for a rocktop lunch break (with guided stretching, meditation, forest tea blend collecting, & more), hike down the mountain, and move slowly back to our start. Jonathon will be sharing occasional walking/movement practices and readings from his book, WALK - Slow Down, Wake Up, & Connect at 1-3 Miles Per Hour along the route.

Pace, terrain, and timing:

Please plan for an unhurried day of movement with plenty of pausing to learn from Lesley alongside a variety of herbs, trees, and more. This route involves walking for several miles including a switchback hike up and down Spruce Mountain. While the hike isn't advanced or technical, it does have incline while navigating mountain rock. We will be taking our time throughout our entire route and honoring the unique paces moving with our group.

Rough timing (please plan for flexibility as we may finish as early as 2:30 or as late as 4:30):

9:00-9:30 am - Welcome, introductions, gather

9:30-11:00 am - Prairie Plant Walk on Spruce Meadows Trail

11:00-12:30 pm - Hike up to Spruce Mountain

12:30-1:30 pm - Lunch & Practices on Rocktop

1:30 - 3:30 pm - Mindfully hike/walk back to start

Your Hosts:

Lesley Gilbert: multi-hyphenate entrepreneur with Sacred Spaces Colorado. Chicana-indigenous- ceremonialist herbalist, yoga instructor, postpartum doula, certified lactation counselor, master gardener, food activist, designer, real estate investor and mom of 2 boys! “I'm like a wild flower seed- I let my interests float and spiral me from one passion to another. I love all things plant related. The mountains call me often to visit and my garden keeps me grounded. I love to teach and be in sacred circle with folks. I can drink tea and stare out the windows for hours then I hear the whispers to create and off I go again.”

Jonathon Stalls (he, his) spent 242 days walking across the United States in 2010 and has continued to walk alongside thousands of people for thousands of miles. He describes himself as a Walking Artist. He advocates and organizes for racial, economic, and social justice, identifies as LGBTQIA2S+ (queer/gay), is currently the creator of Intrinsic Paths and the Pedestrian Dignity campaign, and is the founder of Walk2Connect. Jonathon finished his studies at the Living School for Action and Contemplation in 2017. He has committed much of his life to helping people deepen their relationships to one another, to the natural world, and to themselves at an unhurried pace.
