WALK Book Event at Narrow Gauge Book Co-op!
Join us for this fun and meaningful walk followed by book readings/book signing from Jonathon Stalls (WALK - Slow Down, Wake Up & Connect at 1-3 Miles Per Hour) at Narrow Gauge Book Co-op in Alamosa, CO!

*RESCHEDULED for Sat, Oct 15th. We will meet at 2pm for the connection walk and the book reading will begin at 3pm!
Join Jonathon Stalls, author of WALK: Slow Down, Wake Up, and Connect at 1-3 Miles Per Hour, for a walk'n talk book event on Saturday, October 15th with Narrow Gauge Book Co-op! The walking portion of the event is optional and will start/finish at Narrow Gauge co-op. It will be a quick 30-40 minute walk going at a conversational pace going to the Rio Grande River and back.
Come for the walk, the talk, or both! Here's our schedule for the evening:
- 2:00 PM Gather for the walk - meet outside of Narrow Gauge Book Co-op
- - Welcome & Introduction circle
- - Walking loop (conversational pace 2-3 miles per hour, moving, but not rushing, to Rio Grande River and back)
- - Break, gather back at Narrow Gauge
- 3:00 PM Book reading/Q&A with Jonathon
- - Books, signing, connection
Relationship to the San Luis Valley:
Jonathon has spent many years working in and connecting with the San Luis Valley hosting a number of walking-related programs alongside Walk2Connect Cooperative, San Luis Valley Great Outdoors, Move Mountains Projects San Luis, Sangre de Cristo National Heritage Area and the Rio Grande Farm Park via the Caminos del Valle project. For the past four years, his primary work in the valley has been working with groups of "youth walking leaders" who would host heritage/health/community walking events in San Luis, Antonito and Alamosa. Jonathon still spends significant time in the valley, primarily in San Luis and the village of El Rito (San Francisco).
About the authors:
Jonathon Stalls (he, his) spent 242 days walking across the United States in 2010 and has continued to walk alongside thousands of people for thousands of miles. He describes himself as a Walking Artist. He advocates and organizes for racial, economic, and social justice, identifies as LGBTQIA2S+ (queer/gay), is currently the creator of Intrinsic Paths and the Pedestrian Dignity campaign, and is the founder of Walk2Connect. Jonathon finished his studies at the Living School for Action and Contemplation in 2017. He has committed much of his life to helping people deepen their relationships to one another, to the natural world, and to themselves at an unhurried pace. His first book, WALK - Slow Down, Wake Up, & Connect at 1-3 Mile per Hour with North Atlantic Books will be released on August 16, 2022.
