when the snow lets go

ree

Taken on July 1st while walking a high alpine ridge between Breckenridge and Copper (Segment 7 of the Colorado Trail).

:

when the snow lets go

:

do you see

how it clings

to edges

of rock

:

certainty and power

worshiping locks

:

it seems

that it knows

to melt

what it was

:

binaries break

 universal laws

:

rushing

streams

nourishment

for all

:

healing wounds

and

crumbling

walls

:

I drafted this poem while slowly making my way up and over the mountains above. Snow in early July - its story, existence, and purpose - eventual and necessary nourishment for all life on Earth.

finished on July 12, 2024
